Overcoming Challenges in Security Operations
Managing a fragmented and complex marketplace
In a rapidly evolving cyber-security landscape, security operation centres (SOCs) face multiple challenges. The market is becoming increasingly fragmented, complex and cluttered. Organisations are having to grapple with a wide range of security tools and technologies, some well-established, others, such as generative AI, only now emerging.
The cyber-security market has grown tremendously in recent years. The UK Government’s Cyber-security Sectoral Analysis 2022 highlights the presence of 1,838 firms providing cyber-security products and services, adding to the confusion and acronym soup prevalent in the market. Information security professionals are faced with selecting and operating a range of tools and technologies. There are overlaps and gaps.
In addition, the development of new tools and technologies means that security teams need to be constantly upgrading their skills. Added to the unremitting workload they handle, this can lead to stress, burnout and resignations. Security leaders must add considerable people management proficiency to their existing technological skills.
This roundtable will provide a platform to share insights, exchange experiences and find innovative solutions to the challenges faced by security team leaders in the evolving cyber-security landscape. Join us in this discussion of the security operations marketplace.
During the meeting we will focus on questions such as:
- Why is it increasingly challenging for information security leaders to identify and optimise technology opportunities?
- What are the issues for information security that legacy technology presents and how can these be managed?
- Why is information security such a stressful profession, and how can leaders ensure that teams have the right skills and motivations in the face of an ongoing skills shortage?
- How can organisations audit their current technology stack and use the analysis to select appropriate security tools?
- How can cyber-security be used to drive the company’s agenda, and deliver business outcomes and value?
- What do leaders need to do to ensure their teams have the right skills, and that security processes are optimally configured to realise results?
