I was appointed General Counsel and Company Secretary at Adarma in January 2022 and am responsible for leading our legal, risk and compliance functions. I originally trained and practiced as a corporate lawyer specialising in merger and acquisition transactions at Shepherd & Wedderburn and Maclay Murray Spens (now Dentons) in Edinburgh before moving in house to Standard Life.

In recent years I have worked as a General Counsel for private equity backed companies to create and develop legal functions before successfully managing those companies through exit processes.

I moved from Standard Life to become General Counsel at LOC Group, a private equity backed (Bridgepoint) global energy and shipping consultancy developing and leading a legal function covering all 36 offices in 20 countries, sitting on the group Board and managing its trade sale to a competitor. Prior to joining Adarma I was General Counsel for a private equity backed (Inflexion) IT managed services provider named Ridgewall.

Throughout my career as a General Counsel, I have gathered some interesting and varied experience including managing and reacting to a ransomware attack, resolving a significant payment diversion fraud and managing international litigations and internal fraud investigations.

Outside of Adarma, whilst my rugby playing days are firmly behind me I can usually be found cheering on any of the Scottish rugby teams or on the golf course when I get the opportunity.
