Adarma is delighted to announce the launch of its new podcast series, ‘Cyber Insiders’. Our podcast reveals what it’s really like to work in cybersecurity and what it takes to win against increasingly well-resourced cyber criminals from the perspective of those who work on the cyber frontline.
In each episode we speak to industry experts to explore the hidden pressures, challenges, stresses and motivations of those who protect our banks, critical infrastructure and online lives. Throughout the series we will expose a fast-moving, high-pressured industry where cyber threats are growing at an alarming rate.
In this first episode, Adarma CEO John Maynard and Chief Marketing Officer, Joanne Gilhooley sit-down with cyber industry veteran Andreas Wuchner to discuss the ever-changing role of the CISO and why its moved far beyond a technical role.
Andreas, who has over 25 years of experience in cyber and risk and has worked with big names such as IBM, Deutsche Bank, and the Swiss Government, shares the lessons he’s learned over the course of his fascinating career, the changes he’s seen across the landscape and why he thinks organisations need to actively build a security-first culture and re-think the way we recruit across the industry.
“The perception of most of the people within the security community is still that users are the weakest link. If we continue to make people the problem zone instead of enabling them to be the strongest first-line of defence, we will continue to see the same problems because attackers are determined and only need to be successful once. We need to change our mind-set by empowering people and by putting security at the heart of what we do.” – Andreas Wuchner
Having been both a practitioner and board advisor, Andreas also provides practical advice for CISOs on how to communicate and collaborate more effectively with the board, and how to utilise the right metrics to translate value to the board.
